Presented by SunStrong Entertainment, Pavane for an Infant is the third feature film by Golden Horse Best Director winner Chong Keat Aun, starring Hong Kong Film Award winner Fish Liew. Since its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival 2024, the film has toured over a dozen countries and regions, and is finally set to premiere in cinemas across Malaysia on August 14.
As conservatism rises in Malaysian society, baby hatches are condemned as symbols of moral decay and seen as encouraging sex without consequences. Lai Sum, Sister Kam, Fatimah, and Nurul work around the clock at a baby hatch centre in Kuala Lumpur. Together, they stand by women from all backgrounds, offering support as they navigate the painful realities of bodily autonomy and sexual violence.
