The fourth Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) has been postponed to next year as cinemas in Malaysia are temporarily closed due to a surge in Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n
MIFFest chairperson and founder Joanne Goh said the tentative new date is Jan 2 next year.<\/p>\n
\u201cAccording to the latest standard operating procedures announced by the government, activities in cinemas are absolutely not allowed during this conditional movement control order,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince MIFFest will take place directly in local cinemas, the Festival Committee must take into account the health and safety of those involved in the event.<\/p>\n
“The health and safety of filmmakers, artists, audiences, crew and staff is our top priority and concern.
