“Pavane for an Infant”, presented by SunStrong Entertainment, has been shortlisted in the Asian Future section at the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF)!

Following the success of “The Story of Southern Islet” and “Snow in Midsummer”, director Chong Keat Aun once again turns his lens to society’s marginalized voices, stating: “This is a lullaby born in Malaysia, with a voice that resonates and does not fear the dark”.

The baby hatch, a deeply controversial subject within Malaysia’s conservative society, serves as the backdrop of the film. Some see it as a symbol of moral decay, while others view it as a refuge for women in desperate circumstances. “Pavane for an Infant” tells the story of a female employee at a baby hatch, who tirelessly helps marginalized women navigate the complexities of bodily autonomy and societal judgment.

The film will have its world premiere at the 37th Tokyo International Film Festival, taking place from October 28th to November 6th, and will compete in the Asian Future section.
