The film was warmly received by local audiences, with tickets for both screenings at the festival selling out quickly. Director Chong Keat Aun attended the event in person, taking the stage alongside lead actors Fish Liew, Ben Yuen and the producers at the opening ceremony to introduce the film.
Fish portrays Lai Sum, a young social worker stationed at a center for abandoned babies, while Ben plays a temple wizard born and raised in Malaysia. The film’s mysterious and emotionally layered characters have stirred strong anticipation among viewers.
Prior to the evening premiere, Director Chong and Fish greeted and interacted with the first audience members at the theatre. When asked why he chose to collaborate with Hong Kong actors and crew, Chong shared that he grew up watching Hong Kong cinema and felt nervous about attending the premiere. He added, “Actually, I learned Cantonese by watching Hong Kong movies,” a remark that drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
